CalTribe AI ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account Information: Name, email address, and age when you create an account
Health and Fitness Data: Nutrition information, calorie intake, weight, fitness goals, and workout data imported from Apple Health
Photos: Meal photos you take or upload for AI analysis
User Content: Posts, comments, and content you share on the social feed
Usage Data: How you interact with the app, features used, and preferences
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version, and crash data for app improvement
Subscription Status: Information about your subscription to manage access to premium features

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide AI-powered nutrition analysis and health insights
Track your calories, macros, and fitness progress
Enable social features like sharing meals and connecting with others
Sync with Apple Health to import workout data
Send you relevant notifications about your progress
Send you important account updates, product announcements, and founder communications related to your use of CalTribe AI
Improve our app and develop new features
Ensure app stability and fix bugs

Email Communications

We may use your email address to contact you about your account, subscription, app updates, and product improvements. These communications come directly from the founder of CalTribe AI.

You can opt out of non-essential emails at any time by replying to any email with "unsubscribe" or by contacting us at hello@caltribe.app. You cannot opt out of essential account communications such as subscription confirmations.

Health Data

We treat your health and nutrition data with the highest level of protection. Your calorie intake, weight, fitness goals, meal photos, and related health data are stored securely and are never sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes. This data is used solely to provide you with personalized nutrition insights within the app.

Health data you provide is processed to generate your personalized calorie and macro recommendations. It is not used for any purpose beyond delivering the core functionality of CalTribe AI.

Meal Photos

Photos you submit for AI analysis are processed to identify food items and estimate nutritional content. Photos are not stored permanently after analysis unless you explicitly save them to your food log. Meal photos are never shared with third parties or used for advertising purposes.

Apple Health Integration

If you choose to connect Apple Health we import workout data including steps, workouts, and hydration to provide a complete picture of your health journey. This data is used solely within the app and is not shared with third parties for advertising purposes. You can disconnect Apple Health at any time from your device settings.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following circumstances:

With Your Consent: When you choose to share content publicly on the social feed
Service Providers: With trusted partners who help us operate the app including cloud hosting and analytics — these partners are bound by confidentiality agreements
Legal Requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights

In the event of an accidental disclosure of personal data we will notify affected users promptly and take immediate steps to prevent recurrence.

Third-Party Services

CalTribe AI uses the following third-party services:

Firebase (Google): For authentication, cloud storage, and crash reporting
Google Analytics for Firebase: For anonymized usage analytics to improve the app
Apple/Google: For in-app purchase processing and subscription management
Apple Health: For fitness and activity data sync with your explicit permission

Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing their use of your data.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data including encryption in transit and at rest. Health data and personal information are stored in secure cloud infrastructure. However no method of electronic transmission is 100% secure.

You have the right to:

Delete your account and associated data
Export your data
Opt out of promotional communications

European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation including:

Right to restrict processing
Right to object to processing

Please note that health and nutrition data is considered special category data under GDPR Article 9. We process this data solely on the basis of your explicit consent given when you create your account and begin using the app.

California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident you have the right to know what personal data we collect, the right to request deletion of your data, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights contact us at hello@caltribe.app.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account we will remove your personal data within 30 days except where retention is required by law. Anonymized usage analytics may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be tied to individual users.

Children's Privacy

CalTribe AI is not intended for users under 17 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 17. Users must verify their age during onboarding. If you believe we have collected information from a user under 17 please contact us immediately at hello@caltribe.app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
